Search the internet for ‘.torrent’ files straight from firefox _ the offical homepage of Ben Guild (smash)
packetfour forums member “dan” made a Firefox search plug-in for Yotoshi… a global torrent search engine powered by Google. Check the site out, and get the plug-in here.
According to the forum you “extract it to the “searchplugins” directory in your Firefox directory, and then reset your browser.”
300 Images From 1800 Sites
I started gathering little, iconesque web images for myself so that I could compare, contrast, and study the techniques used by other graphic artists on the web. My initial pool of images looked so interesting that I decided to continue methodically hunting and capturing the icons for a public display piece.
The purpose of this document is not to copy the intellectual property of others, but rather as a jumping-off point for your own unique web graphic projects. It’s for Brainstorming, if you will.
Interesting concept- this person has scoured 1800 web sites and displays the different graphical elements like arrows, post markers, comment markers, bullets, even shopping cart and shopping bag icons.
Make your own LiveCD with iBuild
ªQ: What is Intellibuild?
A: Intellibuild (iBuild) is a program that allows you to quickly and easily create your own custom GNU/Linux LiveCD Distribution (like Knoppix and Morphix). A LiveCD allows you to run linux from the CD-ROM without having to install it on the computer’s hard drive.
ªQ: How does it work?
A: Quite simple, really (at least from the user’s perspective!). You simply open up a template, select which programs you want to be included, click on the “Build” button and wait. When iBuild is done, your custom .iso awaits you. All you have to do is burn and go.
ªQ: No really, that’s too simple…
A: It may seem “too simple”, but remember that many, many hours have gone into the creation of iBuild to make it simple. You can simply create a pre-designed template or you can “root around” around a bit and make further customizations on your own – you’re own bootsplash image, custom program start-ups, etc.
ªQ: Does iBuild have program xyz?
A: Yes and (maybe) Not Yet. Because iBuild builds your LiveCD using Debian, you have access to over 15,000 packages/programs that are present in the Debian distribution. Chances are the most popular programs are already included in iBuild (nearing 200 patches). If not, you can actually create one in under a minute if it’s a simple install. Our Howto explains how to do this. You can also pop into the IRC channel #morphix on irc.freenode.net and ask and quite possibly someone there will create the patch for you.
ªQ: Sounds great! Now what?
A: Start by reading our Howto. A lot of time has been spent trying to make the Howto as user friendly as possible. It will walk you through the steps of preparing your system, downloading and installing iBuild, and even making a small customized LiveCD.
I haven’t had time to give this a try yet, but it certainly sounds interesting and easy!

Slyck News – LokiTorrent.com Interview
LokiTorrent.com Interview

Thomas Mennecke
In mid December 2004, the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) began implementing its world wide campaign against BitTorrent and eDonkey2000 indexing sites. Most key sites such as Youceff Torrents, BuckTV, ShareConnector, Phoenix Torrents and SuprNova.org were eliminated. However, one site defied the MPAA and decided to stay and fight. The name of this site is LokiTorrent.com.
In order to finance this potentially immense operation, LokiTorrent.com established a donation drive. The results so far have been impressive. In less than one month LokiTorrent was able to raise in excess of $30,000 to cover its legal costs. Many consider LokiTorrent the hero of the BitTorrent community for not folding like a cheap suitcase. However the pedestal LokiTorrent was placed on would soon be rocked.

Reviews : VidaLinux 1.1 – Gentoo Done Right
So we’ve established that VidaLinux is based on Gentoo right? It is. Isn’t Gentoo just Gentoo either way you cut it? Well, not really. What sets VidaLinux apart from its parent is actually twofold. The first thing you’ll notice is that it uses Red Hat’s Anaconda installer (VidaLinux’s customized installer can be downloaded from here). With VidaLinux there is no need to print out a tens of pages of documentation to install your system via the command line interface. Everything is done using the graphical Anaconda interface. This provides a huge benefit to those who might have been intimidated by Gentoo Linux but want to give it a shot.
For those Gentoo veterans out there who might be reading this, VidaLinux 1.1 is essentially a stage 3 install, which means that the core system and all of it’s major components are prebuilt. They offer four versions, each optimized for different CPU types: i686, Athlon XP, Pentium 4, and AMD64. This means that while you can’t get totally optimized without compiling the entire distribution from source, you can get a distro that’s highly optimized for your CPU with a generalized group of settings.
Vidalinux seems like a great way for those intimidated by Gentoo’s usual install to have a Gentoo system. It’s nice that they use RH’s Anaconda Installer- I wish Debian would use something like that. The rest of the article includes more info about Vidalinux and Gentoo, plus screenshots, etc. I, of course, will be sticking with Debian, but I thought there may be some of you out there interested in Vidalinux (or an easier way to install Gentoo).
